Progressive? With limits

Seattle is often portrayed as one of the most progressive cities in the country. Assisted suicide has been legal since 2008, gay marriage since 2009 and the sale of cannabis for non-medical use too, since 2012. A minimum wage of $ 15 per hour is also applied. An artist based in Seattle since 2016, Akira Ohiso somewhat nuances this image: "Seattle adopts progressive policies and uses a language that promotes equity and inclusion, but that is easier said than done. Many locals who define themselves as progressive believe, for example, that the city is in decline due to the influx of new residents. Tech giants are attracting younger workers from diverse backgrounds. ”
